Professor Ansari is an experienced Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, being in post since 2001. He also has a strong research and teaching commitment with links to the University of Kent at Canterbury. He qualified from the University of Wales College Of Medicine in 1990. It was here that he became the recipient of the prestigious International Glaucoma Association Fellowship, which enabled him to continue his research resulting in an MD postgraduate degree.
His training was completed following a prestigious Glaucoma Fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital. London.Professor Ansari’s area of special interest is modern micro-incision cataract surgery (phako), refractive surgery with specialized lens implants, laser surgery for glaucoma (SLT, cyclodiode), drainage surgery for glaucoma (trabeculectomy, tubes and valves) and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (I-Stent, XEN implant, and endoscopic cyclodiode laser).He is a keen teacher and researcher having given many presentations both nationally and internationally.
