The team at KIMS Hospital offering Mako robotic arm-assisted surgery

KIMS Hospital announces the introduction of Stryker’s state-of-the-art Mako SmartRobotics™ for total knee replacements in its operating theatres. The hospital is the only healthcare provider in Kent to offer this robotic-arm assisted technology and joins only a handful of hospitals across the UK using the innovative Mako system.

Prema Subaskaran, Chairperson, KIMS Hospital, comments, “As the largest independent hospital in Kent, we are proud to provide safe, outstanding quality care for our patients. Our investment in Stryker’s innovative robotic-arm assisted surgery system is another step towards improving access to technology and strengthening the facilities on offer at KIMS Hospital for the local community.”

Orthopaedic Surgeons trained to use the Mako system can create a completely personalised surgical plan prior to surgery for each of their patients using a 3D virtual model of their patient’s knee. The surgeon held robotic-arm with AccuStop™ haptic technology transforms the way joint replacements are performed, allowing greater precision and accuracy and less bone and soft tissue damage.

This means that patients who undergo robotic-assisted knee surgery at KIMS Hospital could experience less post-operative pain and potentially benefit from faster recovery times helping them to return to their daily activities sooner.

KIMS Hospital is committed to providing safe, outstanding quality care for their patients at every stage of their journey from diagnosis to recovery. The state-of-the-art facilities and dedicated teams ensure the best possible experience for patients undergoing their knee replacement at the hospital.
