A team of 29 staff members from KIMS Hospital and Sevenoaks Medical Centre has accomplished their goal of trekking to the summit of Mount Snowdon.

The fundraising challenge raised £9,475.23 for Holding On Letting Go, a Rochester-based charity, that supports bereaved children in Kent and South East London.

Pam Meller, Fundraising Officer from Holding On Letting Go, said:

“I want to say a massive well done to the KIMS Hospital team for completing their biggest challenge to date, and raising so much money for our charity!

“We rely entirely on donations to provide bereavement support to children and their families and this contribution of almost £9,500 will cover the costs of supporting 18 bereaved children and allows us to plan future services, knowing the funding is in place.

“Donations like this one allow our small team of staff and volunteers to continue to support local children, young people, and their families after the death, or anticipated death, of someone close to them.”

Keli Tomlin, Clinical Nurse Manager at KIMS Hospital, said:

“The work Holding On Letting Go do is phenomenal and we are so proud to support them as they help each bereaved young person “Hold On” to the happy memories of their loved one, while “Letting Go” of any painful ones.

“It really spurred our team on through our training and on the day and was by far the hardest thing I’ve ever done – even harder than the London Marathon!

“We have lots more fundraising events planned and hope to raise as much money as we can throughout the rest of the year.”

The hospital’s charity of the year is chosen by the team of more than 500 employees who hold a number of events, challenges and competitions to help raise money.

When voting for their Charity of the Year 2024, it was important that the charity should be local to Kent and after a hotly contested race, the KIMS Hospital team voted to support the Rochester-based charity, Holding on Letting Go.
