Thyroid surgery, also known as thyroidectomy, is a surgical procedure performed to remove all or part of the thyroid gland. The thyroid gland is located at the base of the neck and produces the hormones that regulate metabolism and other important bodily functions.

There are a number of reasons an ENT Specialist may recommend a thyroidectomy including:

  • Thyroid cancer
  • Noncancerous enlargement of the thyroid (goiter) causing compressive symptoms
  • Overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism)
  • Suspicious thyroid nodules
  • Cosmetic improvement of a large goiter (goitre) in the neck

Whatever the cause, our team of specialists are here to help you get back to doing the things you love, and will support you every step of the way.
