What is included in the Rapid Cardiac Assessment?

There are 7.6 million people living with heart or circulatory disease in the UK*. Many do not realise they have a cardiac condition. Others have symptoms but remain stuck on long waiting lists for tests and a cardiology review.

Our Rapid Cardiac Assessment service is designed to close this gap. If you have heart symptoms, you will be assessed quickly by experts who can provide clarity and a clear plan for your health.

We can help if you have:

  • Palpitations
  • Chest pain
  • Breathlessness
  • Suspected Hypertension
  • Heart murmurs
  • Abnormal ECG results
  • Unexplained faints or syncope

If you have no symptoms but would like a detailed health check of your heart, we also offer a Healthy Heart Assessment.

    STEP 1: Cardiac Nurse triage

Your journey begins with a call from a Cardiac Nurse. During this triage we will discuss:

    • Your symptoms
    • Your medical history
    • Current medication
    • Any previous cardiac tests

The nurse will recommend the most appropriate diagnostic tests for your symptoms. You will be advised of the cost before anything is booked

    STEP 2: Diagnostic heart tests

You will complete the tests tailored to your symptoms. These may include ECG, echocardiogram, heart rhythm monitoring, blood tests or advanced imaging. Many results are available within 24 hours depending on the assessment.

    STEP 3:  Consultant Cardiologist appointment

You will meet a Consultant Cardiologist face to face to discuss your symptoms, test results and next steps. If you need treatment or further investigation, this will be explained clearly with costs provided. You also have the option to return to the NHS via your GP.

STEP 4: Full report for you and your GP

    You will receive:

    • All test results
    • A Consultant Cardiologist letter
    • A KIMS Hospital covering letter summarising outcomes and planned care
