Professional Profile
Mr Selway has been a Consultant Neurosurgeon since 2001. He studied medicine and neuroanatomy in Cambridge and had specialist training in Birmingham, Cambridge, Oxford and in London. He gained a first class degree in mathematics and was awarded the Norman Dott Gold Medal by the Royal College of Surgeons in 1999.
Mr Selway specialises in the neurosurgery of epilepsy and movement disorders in both adults and children and is an expert in degenerative spine disease.
Mr Selway is the lead for the Department of Neurosurgery at King’s College Hospital and is responsible for one of the major departments in the UK. His work centers on the use of multidisciplinary teams to ensure the right patient reaches the right clinician.
His practise specialises in the assessment of spinal disease, especially in the neck and lower back. Although offering a wide range of operative and non-operative treatments, he believes the key to successful treatment is to understand the patient’s symptoms and examination findings in detail. This allows targeted investigations if required and the chance to discuss the findings with the patient in order to developing a productive treatment plan.
