Recover, Rebuild and Return to Activity with Confidence

The AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill is an advanced rehabilitation and training system that uses NASA-inspired technology to reduce the amount of body weight placed through your joints and muscles while walking or running.

By providing a safe, controlled environment, AlterG allows patients to exercise with less pain, improved mobility and reduced risk of injury during recovery.

How Does AlterG Work?

Physiotherapist giving a patient an initial assessment on the AlterG Anti-Gravity TreadmillThe AlterG uses Differential Air Pressure (DAP) technology to gently lift your body weight while you walk or run on the treadmill. This allows your physiotherapist to precisely adjust how much weight you place through your legs—from 100% of your body weight down to as little as 20%.

This means you can move more comfortably and begin rehabilitation earlier than may be possible with traditional exercise.

Who Can Benefit from AlterG?

AlterG may be suitable for people recovering from:

  • Sports injuries
  • Knee, hip, ankle or foot injuries
  • Joint replacement surgery
  • Fractures and lower limb trauma
  • Tendon and ligament injuries
  • Back pain and lower limb pain
  • Neurological conditions affecting walking and balance
  • General deconditioning following injury or illness

It is also widely used by athletes who wish to maintain fitness while recovering from injury or safely increase training volume.

What Are the Benefits of AlterG Therapy?

  • Reduced Pain During Exercise – by decreasing the load on your joints and muscles, AlterG can make walking and running more comfortable.
  • Earlier Return to Movement – Patients are often able to start walking, jogging or running sooner during their rehabilitation programme.
  • Improved Gait Training – the controlled environment allows physiotherapists to focus on improving walking mechanics and movement patterns.
  • Increased Confidence – many patients feel more secure exercising with reduced body weight support, helping them regain confidence after injury or surgery.
  • Customised Rehabilitation – your physiotherapist can precisely adjust body weight support, speed and duration to match your stage of recovery.
  • Sports Conditioning – allowing athletes to increase training volume and aerobic conditioning while minimising impact and stress-related injury risks.

What to Expect During Your AlterG Session

You will wear specialised AlterG shorts that zip into the treadmill chamber. Once inside, the machine gently supports a percentage of your body weight while you walk, jog, or run.

Our expert physiotherapists will guide you through tailor-made sessions, monitoring your progress and providing personalised exercises to complement your rehabilitation program.
