Professional Profile

James qualified from The Royal Free School of Medicine in 2000. He completed basic surgical training on The Royal Free/Stanmore rotation, cementing his desire to become an Orthopaedic surgeon. He undertook Orthopaedic Specialty training on the Southwest Thames rotation and was awarded his CCT in 2014.

James gained invaluable experience from regional centres of excellence at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore and St. Georges Hospital, London.

He was awarded two world-renowned fellowships in Brisbane, Australia. The first year, with Dr Bill Donnelly, dedicated to arthroplasty and included cutting edge techniques that utilise both computer-assisted and robotic surgery. This was followed in 2015 by a year with Dr Peter Myers, one of the world’s pre-eminent knee and sports surgeons, refining his techniques in ligament reconstruction, cartilage/meniscus repair techniques and joint replacement surgery.

James was appointed as a consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS trust in 2016.

Special Interests

Knee replacement surgery, sports Injuries (soft tissue - including ACL, PCL, MCL and LCL)
The hospital , accommodation and operation were all fine and to be commended . Mr Young provided all the information necessary and I had full confidence in what he was planning to do . Only flies in the ointment were after discharge when the bandage on my leg turned out to be causing an allergic reaction / rash and , two nights after discharge , I began to urinate blood for reasons unknown ( catheter ? ) . The latter needed two visits to A&E .
