Dr. Hassan is Consultant Pulmonologist who holds dual specialist accreditation in Respiratory Medicine and Internal Medicine. As his NHS base, he works as a substantive consultant in East Kent NHS Trust where he was appointed in 2021 as consultant.
With 10 years’ experience in Respiratory Medicine, he completed his Specialist training in London/Southeast, having worked at renowned centres like Nottingham University Hospital, Guy’s Hospital and St Thomas’s Hospital with rotations at Harefield Hospital (Lung Transplant) and King’s College Hospital (Cystic Fibrosis).
His interests include Lung Cancer Diagnosis & surveillance, pleural diseases, Asthma and COPD, Breathlessness, Interstitial Lung disease, Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, CPAP BiPAP therapy, Respiratory Failure, Pulmonary Embolism and Pulmonary Hypertension.
He has competence in performing advanced procedures like Endobronchial Ultrasound, EBUS, EUS-B, Bronchoscopy, Insertion and removal of Indwelling Pleural Catheters (IPC / PleurX), Chest drains, Medical Thoracoscopy, diagnostic Thoracic Ultrasound and ultrasound guided procedures.
He has held educational roles like Clinical Lecturer, Clerkship Director and Associate Professor of Medicine and is examiner for Royal College of Physicians. He holds professional qualifications in Clinical Research, Medical Education and Clinical Leadership.
His competence has been recognised by leading institutions in the form of Fellowship awards by American College of Chest Physicians, College of Physicians & Surgeons Glasgow, College of Physicians of London and Memberships of Academy of Medical Educators UK, Pleural Society UK, British Thoracic Society and British Medical Association.
