Professional Profile
Dr Rajiv Rampat is a Consultant in Cardiology at East Kent University Hospitals NHS trust (EKHUFT) with specialist expertise in the management of coronary heart disease. He is the lead for coronary angioplasty in EKHUFT and the lead for primary angioplasty service for the region of Kent, which provides emergency treatment for patients diagnosed with heart attack.
Dr Rampat received a full scholarship to study medicine at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and graduated with Merit and several academic prizes. He undertook his cardiology training in South London deanery. After completing his training, he undertook a fellowship at the prestigious Institut Cardiovasculaire Paris Sud under the supervision of Dr Chevalier, a world renowned Interventional Cardiologist.
Dr Rampat is the lead for cardiovascular research in East Kent. He is the principal investigator in several national and international cardiac trials. He has a MD in cardiac research and has published in major peer reviewed journals in cardiology. He is a member of the Cardiovascular European Research Center (CERC), which is the leading research organisation in cardiovascular disease in Europe.
He is passionate about delivering high quality care and possesses clinical expertise in all aspects of general and interventional cardiology. He is married to an Ophthalmic surgeon and has two young children. He enjoys reading and spending quality time with his family.
