Ayeshah Gordon-Dixon studied at St Georges University of London, gaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical science 2003 and MBBS in 2008. She worked as a junior doctor in London, during which time she gained her MRCS and secured a position in higher surgical training. She spent her 1st year training in Basingstoke one of the worlds largest centres for pseudomyxoma peritonei then moved to the Kent, Surrey and Sussex deanery closer to her family where she completed her remaining 5 years of training. As a trainee, she was awarded the colorectal travelling fellowship by the Royal Society of Medicine in 2014 and won the awards for outstanding trainee in 2018 and 2019 in Kent.

She was successful in her FRCS in 2020 and appointed as a Substantive surgeon at the Medway Maritime Hospital in 2022 where she is currently the surgical lead for the emergency operating theatre service which was nationally commended in 2024. She is the surgical lead for IBD which is her area of specialist interest, treating patients with Crohns disease and Colitis. She is an Advanced trauma life support instructor and she is JAG accredited in Lower GI endoscopy- colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy. Her elective work also includes keyhole surgery to remove the gallbladder, repairs of abdominal wall and groin hernias, removal of benign skin lesions, treatment of pilonidal disease and benign colorectal surgery for haemorrhoids, anal skin lesions, fissures and anal fistulas.

She takes pride in providing the best care for her patients, which comes with her meticulous attention to detail in her work. She always aims to find answers thus providing a diagnosis for patients presenting with general surgical and colorectal issues. She views each patient holistically in order to optimise their outcomes and offer surgical and non surgical treatment options most suited to her patients’ needs.

Special Interests

Specialist interest in Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative colitis- which includes investigations such as lower GI endoscopy, managing perianal disease.
