Professional Profile

I am a fellowship trained consultant orthopaedic and trauma surgeon specialising exclusively in problems of the foot and ankle. I treat all aspects of foot and ankle problems in children and adults, from foot pain and ingrowing toenails through sports injuries and fractures to total ankle replacement. My practice is based on the best scientific evidence, and I use the most up to date surgical techniques to obtain the optimum possible outcome and shortest recovery times for my patients.

I am regularly invited to present my work at both national and international conferences including not only British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society meeting, but also the German Orthopaedic Society (DKOU) congress and European Foot and Ankle Society scientific meetings in Geneva, Edinburgh, Lyon and Helsinki.

I am strongly committed to medical education and in the last few months have been an invited lecturer at the University of Barcelona and the University of Copenhagen. I am frequently invited to teach other surgeons on advanced Foot and Ankle courses such as the European Advanced Instructional Course in Helsinki, Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital course in London, Oxford and Cambridge instructional courses and the prestigious Viladot course at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Barcelona.

I contributed a chapter to “Core Topics in Foot and Ankle Surgery” (Cambridge University Press, 2018), one of the most up to date textbooks for foot and ankle surgeons.

I graduated from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London in 1995 and undertook a fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery at the world-renowned Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital at Stanmore.  I was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust in 2005 and lead the development of foot and ankle surgery in the area. Together with Lt. Col. Tania Cubison I formed the regional complex lower limb reconstruction service, based at Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead, but treating patients from across Kent, Surrey, Sussex and London.

I am a fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons, member of the British Orthopaedic Association and sit on the Council of the European Foot and Ankle Society as well as the Scientific Committee of The British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, and the Orthopaedic Expert Working Group for NHS Digital.
