Colin Grimmett – Right Knee Replacement
Video
“I was pleasantly surprised by how much better the new system is: the group therapies, structured bike sessions, stretching, and step work create a more engaging and integrated experience. It’s a huge improvement and makes the whole process feel more connected and motivating.”
Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Experience
NHS Physiotherapy Arrangement
All post-operative physiotherapy was arranged under the NHS. After the surgery, Colin received four fortnightly sessions at the CHMS physiotherapy department.
Comparison to Previous Knee Surgery
Previous (Left Knee): One-to-one physiotherapy sessions, a format which the patient did not find particularly engaging
Current (Right Knee): Group-based physiotherapy model, with a structured rehabilitation programme including:
- Exercise bikes
- Stretching routines
- Step exercises
- Circuit-based activity stations
Overall Outcome & Satisfaction
Initial Consultation
Colin had been attending KIMS Hospital seeking a prognosis for his ongoing knee problems. He’d had X-rays at his GP surgery but was prepared to self-fund his treatment.
NHS Funding Pathway
After discussing the options with his wife Colin considered NHS treatment. Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Mr James Smith confirmed that it was possible for the surgery to be performed at KIMS Hospital funded by the NHS. Colin returned to his GP surgery to complete the necessary paperwork, and the referral process was completed successfully without any issues.
Satisfied with the outcome
Colin is very pleased with the results of his right knee replacement, and after a positive experience across the surgery and rehabilitation he’s very pleased with the recovery progress. He would not hesitate to choose the same consultant and KIMS Hospital again.
