Location: KIMS Hospital, Maidstone, Kent

Salary: £14,870.70 per annum

Hours: 22.5 hours per week

Working Pattern: Monday – Sunday between 06:30 and 20:30 (rota basis)

We're looking for a Guest Services Porter to join our dedicated team at KIMS Hospital. In this varied and rewarding role, you'll provide a professional, friendly, and efficient portering service, supporting patients, visitors and colleagues while helping to deliver an exceptional patient experience across the hospital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport patients, equipment, stores, specimens, and other essential items safely throughout the hospital.
  • Welcome, assist and escort patients and visitors, ensuring they receive a warm and professional service.
  • Support patient admissions and discharges, providing guidance and assistance where required.
  • Assist with security, car parking and maintaining safe, tidy public areas across the hospital.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies and work collaboratively with colleagues to support hospital operations.

Who we are looking for

Essential Criteria

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Friendly, professional, and patient-focused approach.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a busy environment.

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience in a hospital portering or similar customer-facing role.
  • Experience working within a healthcare environment.

Preparation is key

Before your interview, take the time to research your potential new employer, finding out about their company values and what you might expect working there. Have a clear travel plan ready for the day of the interview, allowing extra time for possible delays - being punctual will allow you time to gather your thoughts and check your notes. Making a good first impression will get your interview off to a great start. It shows you are taking your application seriously and that you are diligent and conscientious. Dress smartly and make sure you are well presented. In no circumstances should you be chewing gum and your mobile phone should be switched off.

Take reassurance from knowing that your interviewer can often be as nervous as you. Be polite, honest and open, maintaining eye contact with them. Talk as clearly and confidently as you can and if you don’t understand a question, ask for clarification. When answering, focus on positive experiences and be prepared to go into detail about your previous positions and your future aspirations.

There will be opportunity for you to ask questions about the organisation and the role. Take this chance to ask about things that are important to you.
