{"id":2792,"date":"2026-08-24T23:02:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-24T22:02:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kims.org.uk\/careers\/vacancy\/registered-nurse-preoperative-assessment-3500\/"},"modified":"2026-08-25T00:02:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-24T23:02:09","slug":"registered-nurse-preoperative-assessment-3500","status":"publish","type":"vacancy","link":"https:\/\/kims.org.uk\/careers\/vacancy\/registered-nurse-preoperative-assessment-3500\/","title":{"rendered":"Registered Nurse \u2013 Preoperative Assessment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Staff Nurse &ndash; Preoperative Assessment<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Location:<\/b> KIMS Hospital, Maidstone<\/p>\n<p><b>Contract: <\/b>22.5 Hours per week, 08.00 &ndash; 18.00 between Monday and Friday (Saturday working as per service requirements)<\/p>\n<p><b>Salary:<\/b> &pound;17,100 &#8211; &pound;19,125 (Equivalent to a full-time salary of (&pound;30,400 &#8211; &pound;34,000)<\/p>\n<p><em>Are you a Registered Nurse with a passion for preoperative assessment?&nbsp; Do you want to have the time to care for your patients?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>KIMS Hospital has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated registered nurse to join our Preoperative Assessment team as a Staff Nurse. You will be a key member of our multi-disciplinary Preoperative Assessment team and will be responsible for the holistic assessment of all patients undergoing surgery at KIMS Hospital to ensure excellent patient care.<\/p>\n<p>This role is ideally suited to an experienced registered nurse who is passionate about the preoperative assessment service and understands its value in elective surgery pathways.<\/p>\n<p><b>Role Responsibilities<\/b><\/p>\n<p>A preoperative assessment staff nurse will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Always demonstrate good clinical practice and be accountable for own actions, acting within the NMC code of practice.<\/li>\n<li>Perform ECG&rsquo;s and phlebotomy along with monitoring blood pressures, weight and height to assess patients, to determine they are fit for their procedure prior to admission.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the anaesthetic pre-assessment processes which may require the involvement of a consultant anaesthetist or RMO are robust and well documented on the digital preoperative assessment system (Lifebox).&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Assist patients with the completion of their medical history on Lifebox where necessary.<\/li>\n<li>Champion infection prevention and control in your daily work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Person Specification<\/b><\/p>\n<p><u>Essential<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be a qualified Nurse with current NMC PIN.<\/li>\n<li>Previous experience in being involved in or running pre-operative assessment clinics.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of clinical governance and its application.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Desirable<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Post Graduate course in the relevant speciality.<\/li>\n<li>Experience of using electronic pre-assessment systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Why join KIMS Hospital:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>At KIMS Hospital we support our staff in building a career, encouraging them to feel their worth and enjoy their time at work.
