{"id":2702,"date":"2026-04-25T13:02:06","date_gmt":"2026-04-25T12:02:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kims.org.uk\/careers\/vacancy\/lead-theatre-practitioner-3384\/"},"modified":"2026-04-25T14:02:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-25T13:02:07","slug":"lead-theatre-practitioner-3384","status":"publish","type":"vacancy","link":"https:\/\/kims.org.uk\/careers\/vacancy\/lead-theatre-practitioner-3384\/","title":{"rendered":"Lead Theatre Practitioner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Lead Theatre Practitioner &#8211; General Surgery <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Location: <\/b>KIMS Hospital Maidstone<\/p>\n<p><b>Contract: <\/b>Full Time Permanent<\/p>\n<p><b>Salary: <\/b>Competitive Salary in line with Agenda For Change<\/p>\n<p><b>*Welcome Bonus: We are currently offering a joining bonus of up to &pound;4,000 (Terms and Conditions Apply)*<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><em>Are you an experienced Senior Theatre Practitioner looking to take the next step in your career?&nbsp; Do you have a keen interest in General Surgery and a desire to mentor a team?<\/em><\/b><\/p>\n<p>We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced ODP or Theatre Nurse to take the next step in their career by joining our dedicated, AfPP accredited, perioperative team as a Lead Theatre Practitioner.<\/p>\n<p>You will be a senior member of the perioperative team, working to ensure the highest standards of clinical care for our patients and providing clinical leadership to the general surgery team.<\/p>\n<p>You will be a patient focused ODP or Registered Nurse with experience working within at least two areas of the perioperative environment as an anaesthetic, scrub and\/or recovery theatre practitioner in an acute hospital.<\/p>\n<p>You will be working 40 hours per week.&nbsp; Shifts will be 10 hours between the hours of&nbsp; 07:30 and 19.45 4 days per week working between Monday and Saturday.&nbsp; You will be required to work 1 Saturday in 4, and remain on call for that weekend.<\/p>\n<p><b>Role Responsibilities<\/b><\/p>\n<p>As a Lead Theatre Practitioner you will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work as the Lead member of the General Surgery team, working flexibly across anaesthetics, scrub and recovery.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare operating and anaesthetic rooms for surgery as required to include equipment and supplies required for specific procedures, ensuring appropriate use of resources.<\/li>\n<li>Assessing patient care requirements, implement care and evaluate outcomes.<\/li>\n<li>Lead, train and inspire junior members of staff.<\/li>\n<li>Communicate effectively with other departments including Sterile Services, Wards, and Imaging department to ensure efficient patient care.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Person Specification<\/b><\/p>\n<p><u>Essential<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be a registered Practitioner (RN or ODP).<\/li>\n<li>Have significant post registration clinical experience as a Senior Theatre practitioner in an acute hospital (NHS or Private)<\/li>\n<li>Be proficient in providing assistance during a wide range of surgical lists.<\/li>\n<li>Have experience in planning, organising and running lists within the theatre suite.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Desirable<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have postgraduate clinical qualification in a speciality or as Surgical First Assistant.<\/li>\n<li>Have experience working in General Surgery<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>KIMS Hospital is the largest independent hospital in Kent and the only hospital in Kent to hold an AfPP accreditation.&nbsp; Our one team culture and excellent practice development team will support your ongoing professional development with a comprehensive personal development plan to help you operate at your highest potential.<\/p>\n<p><b>KIMS Hospital employees enjoy the following benefits:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Competitive Salary<\/li>\n<li>Free Secure Staff Parking<\/li>\n<li>Pension Scheme<\/li>\n<li>Private Health Insurance<\/li>\n<li>33 Days annual leave plus extra time off for your birthday<\/li>\n<li>Life Assurance<\/li>\n<li>Annual Flu Vaccination<\/li>\n<li>Free Eye Test<\/li>\n<li>Relocation packages available<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At KIMS Hospital we are committed to building a diverse and inclusive working environment.
