A fantastic and rare opportunity has arisen at KIMS Hospital for a Sister to join our Inpatient Wards team where they will be responsible for the overall management of the Ward. For this role we are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Senior Nurse to work in partnership with the Lead Sister and Clinical Manager to maintain our exceptionally high standards at all times. The successful candidate will be a confident leader with the ability to inspire and act as a role model for junior staff whilst demonstrating their passion for providing outstanding patient care.
This is a full time position working 37.5 hours per week on a rotating shift pattern which will include weekends and night shifts. Pay scale is NHS band 6 equivalent.
Role Responsibilities include:
- Promoting and initiating innovation and new ideas in methods of care delivery and effective use of resources, direct resource planning, ensuring maximum utilisation of skills and knowledge
- Demonstrating good clinical practise at all times
- Acting as the Senior Nurse in Charge whilst on shift maintaining responsibility for patient safety and staffing
- Working within a team, supervising and directing junior staff and deputising for Senior Staff as required
- Maintaining accurate records of patient care
- Review the allocation of staff to the unit and related areas on a daily basis, adjusting the workforce to reflect activity and patient need
- Develop and line manage the staff reporting into the role, through clear communication and lines of accountability and carry out performance reviews and appraisals
- Working to develop a strong, effective team by developing the vision and strategy of “health care at its best”.
- Be a strong and empathetic Registered Nurse (RN)
- Evidence experience working at a Senior Staff Nurse/ Junior sister level.
- Have demonstrable experience of managing a busy Medical/surgical ward
- Be absolutely patient focussed, with the confidence and skills to lead a team of multi-disciplinary clinical professionals
- Have knowledge of clinical governance and its application along with evidence of continuous professional development.
- Be an expert in building relationships with the ability to easily engage with consultants, colleagues and patients.

Before your interview, take the time to research your potential new employer, finding out about their company values and what you might expect working there. Such as, what is expected of you in the first 6 months? Or, what training opportunities are there? Or, what has the interviewers experience of working for the company been like? It’s an excellent way of showing genuine interest.
It’s important to leave the interview on a positive note. If you haven’t already discussed it, you may want to ask when you can expect to hear about their final decision.
